First off, I’m a sucker for well done origami. Last year, I made my first New Year’s resolution ever of my life, and that was to learn origami. I actually stuck with it for four months and learned a lot, but I’m nowhere near the level of a lot of people. Check out this deviantart page for some truly amazing Star Wars and Star Trek ships made from dollar bills!

So this blog is basically just a collection of all the random/weird/awesome things I find around the internet on an almost daily basis. I’m really bad at bookmarking things for some reason, and a lot of stuff I don’t think needs to be bookmarked but I like to share with people. I realized that lately I’ve been posting a lot of stuff to my facebook profile, an average of five links a day at least, and… that’s crazy (and that’s not counting all the things I want to post and don’t)! As someone who used to use facebook in pretty good moderation (considering our social networking obsessed generation), this is unacceptable, and I’m sure that all my friends are thinking, “WTF Fuchsia, you show up on my news feed too much! I might have to block you!”

So, this. There won’t be any profound writings or anything original (with the exception of maybe short commentary), as I have a hidden blog for my writings and journaling and all that; this is solely to provide links to other content around the internet. Not a new concept at all; in fact, one of my favourite blogs does just that. I just like sharing interesting things when I find them, but I want to do it in a less annoying way than clogging up my friends’ feeds (I know there are a few downsides to this, like not being able to comment as easily without an account, but I think the benefits are much greater).

As I’m going to be away from my computer for the next couple of days (traveling and hanging out with friends I only get to see a few times a year), this is going to start off slow. I’ll actually probably start by clearing out my facebook profile with things I’ve linked to recently. But I’m sure that once I get back to Chicago and my normal internet-boredom-surfing ways, it’ll pick up.
